A public health major is a college program that teaches students how to promote and maintain health in people and communities. Students learn how to prevent diseases, promote healthy lifestyles, and understand how things like food safety, clean water, and vaccinations help everyone stay well. They study topics such as how diseases spread, how to educate people about health, and how to make health policies. Unlike biology majors, who focus more on lab work and the science of living things, public health majors concentrate on helping people through education and community programs.

After graduating, public health majors can work in many different jobs. They might become health educators, helping people learn about staying healthy, or epidemiologists, studying how diseases spread. Others may work in hospitals, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations.

Some jobs require more education, like a master's degree, but many positions are available with just a bachelor's degree. Public health is a growing field, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, and offers many opportunities to make a positive impact on people's lives.
